The band always welcomes new members
We invite experienced players and those wishing to learn the bagpipes or drums, young or old, experienced or novice, everyone is welcome.
Scottish Drums
Drumming is an all-important accompaniment to the bagpipes in the band. Above is pictured a young learner under the watchful eye of tenor drum tutor Bill Bates. Developing confidence during practice so that performance goes smoothly.
Practice Chanter
Learning the bagpipes begins with the practice chanter, where you build the essential skills and finger techniques. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can progress to the full set of pipes. It is a demanding instrument that requires dedication, but the reward is a truly distinctive sound that commands an audience.
Sheet Music
Sheet music for bagpipes is unique to the pipes, it uses ornaments like doublings, grips and shakes to shape phrases on a continuous stream of sound, and it’s written for a fixed scale that sits outside the standard concert pitch.
