The pipe band was first formed in 2018

John Brodie was approached by several individuals interested in learning to play the bagpipes. John invited other experienced pipers, including Mick Barnard and Bob Gladdis, to assist with tuition.

Word quickly spread among the islands small community of pipers. The band was officially established shortly before taking part in The Battles O’er, an international event marking the centenary of the end of the First World War. At 6 a.m. the band played the 3/5 retreat march ‘The Battles O’er’ to commemorate the signing of the armistice, joining thousands of other pipers and pipe bands around the world in marking the event.

Just as the band was becoming established Covid unfortunately disrupted progress

Thanks to the dedication of a core of accomplished and experienced pipers, the band recovered and has continued to flourish.

We are currently self funded, with members financing their own uniform with help from the band. Some drum pads and practice chanters can be provided for new members to try out. Our hope is to one day make this opportunity available everyone who’s interested, with the support of sponsorship. We help to fund the band through income from performances and private bookings.
